If Diddy was half as great as he imagines himself to be, Press Play would be a classic. Diddy is "legendary," "holds [his] crown high" and wishes to drop his ashes over N.Y. when he dies (watch out!). "We Gon' Make It" and the lead-off track, "Testimonial," are twinkling, motivational hip-hop, with rap's Tony Robbins relating, "I move mountains with my will to succeed." On the slushy, vaguely experimental "Future," he aspires to be the first black president. By this point, you either hate or love Diddy, and this album, while solid, is unlikely to change your perspective.
