Shore was the biggest-selling female vocalist of the swing era, and this collection shows why. Natural, laid-back and jazzy, her style was a breath of fresh air during a time when most white women sang like British diplomats. This doesn't include "Blues in the Night" (one of the biggest sellers of the 1940s), so it's not the definitive word, but what is here is very good.
