Arthur Russell's posthumous burst of popularity in the '00s may have emphasized his Downtown associations and avant-pop inclinations, but full-blooded dance music was just as central to his omnivorous style. Recorded in 1979 as Dinosaur L, 24-24 Music presented disco at its boiling point, with oonce-oonce grooves firing up beneath wild, dubbed-out arrangements of Rhodes, Afrobeat guitars and trombones. This re-issue includes essential dancefloor reconstructions from Francois K and Larry Levan.
