Like 1991's Bronx Blues, this album anthologizes Dion's stint with Columbia Records (1962 to '65). Luckily, there's not much overlap between the two. Included are some of Dion's forays into hard blues, including a rendition of Willie Dixon's "Spoonful" that blows away the Yardbirds and early Stones. Then again, you probably won't make it past the second track, "Ruby Baby." Sure, it's on oldies stations 100 times per day, but let's be real: it's one of the greatest vocal performances in rock history.
