On Asylum's opening two songs, "Remnants" and the pummeling title track, Disturbed sound as if they listened to a lot of ...And Justice For All-era Metallica before entering the studio. After, however, the Chicago quartet returns to its core style: a tight and efficient blend of nu metal, groove metal and post-grunge. Overall, the record is solid. Both "Warrior" and "Sacrifice" are highlights with start/stop throwdowns containing plenty of crunch. The group's only serious misfire is the awkward cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," which has been renamed "Ishfwilf."
