by DJ Rupture
Released: Jan 2008
Label: The Agriculture
Where Rupture's early mixes could stretch to 60-odd tracks, he relaxes a bit here, letting hip-hop and dubstep rhythms push along a session that's underpinned by gargantuan bass drops and full of eerie, airy sonics. Occasional vocals, in Arabic or Jamaican patois, lend added urgency, while string interludes make unexpectedly nice with contemporary classical composition. That kind of range is second nature for Rupture, and Uproot makes deracination sound like the most natural thing in the world.
