DJ Soul Slinger

Pay respects to one of the patriarchs of New York Jungle, founder of Liquid Sky, DJ Soul Slinger. Moving from Brazil to New York at the close of eighties, he began a legacy of experimentation like no other. He began spinning House and Techno and evolved into one of the leading breakbeat and Jungle DJ/producers of the nineties. But to reduce his work to specific genres does him no justice. He arranges beats and textures without the restrictions of genre, cutting from electronic film soundtracks to Qawwali to classic pop, but always maintaining a sharp urbanity. His continued dedication to the evolving nature of dance culture has kept him close to the underground, collaborating with and remixing emerging programmers and MCs always mixing the darkest, hardest sounds with an uncanny sensibility for mixing samples and sounds.
