After a couple of quiet years, Jimmy Tamborello returns as Dntel to a new home: DJ Koze's Pampa imprint. Postal Service fans will have to keep waiting: The album is a world away from Tamborello's most famous act, suffused in muted pianos, clicky rhythms and all manner of gauzy effects. But if you peer behind the veil, there's a definite pop impulse at work, especially on songs like "Jitters," which filters the bright, sprightly qualities of a song like "Such Great Heights" through Aphex Twin's Playskool lens. But the album is best heard in full -- a garden of forking paths over shifting sands.
