A singer-songwriter active for many decades, Don Covay is probably best known for the music he wrote for others, including Wilson Pickett, Gladys Knight and Otis Redding. His first LP, originally released in 1965, is a red-hot soul throwdown, all fiery vocals (that clearly influenced the Stones) and rock-solid rhythms. A young Jimi Hendrix also appears.
