Don Ewell

Biography

Stride jazz pianist Ewell died in 1983 at the age of 67, after recording during most of his career. Ewell, who was influenced by a deep knowledge of Jelly Roll Morton, typically worked alone or in small combos with brass or woodwinds. He is known for his steady, harmonically-rich playing.
