Despite the relative accessibility and popularity of "Ice Cream Paint Job," Dorrough's debut isn't pop music. The whining organs and shouted machismo are the modern equivalent of blues music: unfiltered and unrefined; Dorrough flosses like Robert Johnson. Though Dorrough is from Dallas, his music bears the watermarks of H-Town rap -- the chopped choruses, repeated phrases and slurred raps. Nobody is going to mistake this for Ridin' Dirty, but it still bangs.
