Spanish Moss

Spanish Moss is Doug Kershaw's second album after America rediscovered the wildly talented Cajun via an appearance on The Johnny Cash Show in 1969. Unlike the reverb-soaked production of Kershaw's '50s material, Spanish Moss sports the warm, up-close-and-personal sound indicative of singer-songwriter fare in the early '70s. It renders a ballad like "Dans la Louisianne" vulnerable and really quite melancholic. Of course, Kershaw follows that up with "Cajun Stripper."
