Thanks perhaps to production help from longtime Pantera/Soundgarden/Deftones hand Terry Date, the second album by journeyman Duff's turn-of-the-'10s side project leans toward commercial metal and grunge trudge. When it brightens up some -- in "Dead Skin," "Indian Summer," "Wrecking Ball" -- it recalls the more pastoral side of Stone Temple Pilots. "We Win"'s jock-rock shouts have been employed by the Seattle Seahawks; "Cocaine"'s diddy-bopping abuse-confession sleaze probably won't be. And not until pissed-off, psychedelic-chorused closer "Follow Me to Hell" does Duff reveal his punk roots.
