Canadian avant-gardist Ron Collier must've had the thrill of his life when his hero, Duke Ellington, agreed to play piano with him. A couple of Collier works, such as "Aurora Borealis" and "Silent Night, Lonely Night," sound like they could come from Ellington's pen, while "Nameless Hour" is a true Third Stream meeting between jazz and classical music.
