Maryland's favorite death metal veterans spew out a seventh album of chugging brutality, with ribbons of high register guitar vamping that show they've been studying their math. Frontman and last original member John Gallagher delivers what are some of the most distinctive "vocals" in all of death metal, with the requisite grunting marked by a simultaneous octave that is practically the sound of a dying bird. It's possible this is some abomination of Tuvan throat singing. Whatever it is, Gallagher's vocals are totally weird, and awesome. Awesome riffs here, too
