Nobody's Fault But Mine

Nobody's Fault But Mine by Edwin McCain
Released: Jun 2008
Label: Time-Life Music
Released between major releases, Nobody's Fault but Mine is more or less a stop-gap album for McCain. A 15-track collection of soul and R&B covers, it's quite a different beast from its predecessor, 2006's Lost in America, which is a nicely blended fusion of classic rock and Counting Crows-inspired balladry. On this record McCain and his band burst with energy. Unfortunately, numbers like "Can I Get a Witness" and "I Can't Get Next to You" demand too much of his limited vocal skills. What McCain should have done is sought out more obscure material, stuff listeners can't easily reference.
