With their unique backstory (four siblings and a cousin from Tyler, Texas) and 2005 debut Room Noises, Eisley surfaced as one of the most engaging acts in aught-years Christian rock crossovers. Their sophomore LP shows notable development, and although it draws heavily on Jeremy Enigk for both melodic inclinations and presentation, the harmonies and spacious production result in spooky, spectral rock. The odd duck is a shuffling pop number, "Ten Cent Blues," where singer Sherri DuPree charms when she decries a rival by saying, "She is cheesy. She is scrawny."
