If the English band America had been from East L.A., you'd get something like El Chicano, who were into Santana-style Latin soul/rock with the occasional schmaltzy, guilty-pleasure ballad (as in "Tell Her She's Lovely"). The reworked boogaloo of "Viva Tirado" was their biggest hit, but the sunny Cuba tribute "The Latin One" and "El Cayuco" are the real winners.
