Sentimental, smooth-voiced (seriously, those tenors are smooth as a baby's ... well, you know) and synth junkies, this Latin Grammy-nominated act has the duranguense thing down pat. The Durango-bred, Chicago-born genre that replaces much of banda's brass with synths isn't for everyone, but if it's your bag, El Trono's your band. The dramatic, synth-tastic passion of "No La Voy A Enganar" (particularly the trotting "tuba" line at the end) is a highlight.
