Inspired by producer Don Was, or maybe by Miranda Lambert, this Loretta-and-Dolly-schooled up-and-comer proves that retro-sounding country with tough-hussy words can still be catchy. She rocks ballsiest when falling for bad boys -- especially one with a pervy 1972 El Camino. She finds a snake in her bed, offers to be her husband's girlfriend and asks him to lay off the beer since it tends to makes him lay off her. And in darker moments, she watches boys drink at her Mama's funeral and watches her addict sister shoot up in Mama's bathrobe.
