Presley's first live album from Vegas, In Person at the International Hotel, was modeled after his '68 comeback special. That's the Way It Is, in contrast, documents the first manifestations of the King's decline: peacock onesies, vocal decadence, show tunes, wisecracks, lush orchestration. But since the year is 1970, he's still full of vitality. "Polk Salad Annie" and "I Got a Woman" are testaments to his ability to collapse country, rock, funk, gospel, soul and pop into one another. This Special Edition boxed set contains an additional six discs of live material and various studio outtakes.
