Biography

Euphone explore many influences -- including Dub, jazz and Funk -- without sounding like any of them. The result of their combination is distinct, Chicago-style Post-Rock in the vein of Tortoise (they share the same producer, Casey Rice) but with a more sparse feel, like something you might hear in an underwater lounge. Euphone started as a one-man band featuring Ryan Rapsys, who often plays keyboards and drums simultaneously and adds spaced-out, warbled organ to his solid, free-funk drumming. He later nabbed the assistance of Nick Mary on bass (both also play in Heroic Doses) to add a solid melodic groove to his experiments.
