Minimalism is not Fanfarlo's game, and on their second release it's even more evident. Instruments seem to multiply by the minute -- horns, strings, glock, woodwinds, piano, organ, even a musical saw pop in and out of the action like they're on parade. And while the London band is quite adept at assembling it all into affable indie pop, they still seem a bit too indebted to their influences: Arcade Fire in the bouncy boy/girl vocals of "Deconstruction" and "Tightrope"; Beirut in the rich horns of "Tunguska"; and Talking Heads in the dry, hiccup-y grooves of "Lenslife" and "Feathers."
