Fantastic Plastic Machine is the plaything of Japanese wunderkind Tomoyuki Tanaka. A cheesy, club-happy submarine, FPM dives into the history of pop music, especially the '60s variety. Tanaka grabs bits from Mancini soundtracks, Beach Boys albums, That Girl-style theme songs and old commercials, then filters them through modern club culture. Do yourself a favor. Spit out all that postmodernist theory and chew on this: if you're having a soiree and want to dance, put some Fantastic Plastic Machine on the ol' hi-fi system and see the party kick into high gear -- or watch all your headbanger friends exits in drove.
