Near the end of The Darkside Vol. 1, Fat Joe offers a six-minute mea culpa in "I'm Gone." Produced by DJ Premier, it begins with a dedication to the late Guru, and then launches into a rambling defense of Joey Crack's mercurial career. Ironically, it's his most interesting track. The rest of The Darkside offers slick odes to drug dealing ("I Am CRACK") and club-smashing (the superior single "(Ha Ha) Slow Down"), with predictable guest spots from Lil Wayne, Jeezy, Trey Songz and others. Another tribute, "Heavenly Father," is sullied by Fat Joe's nasty remarks about the late Big Pun's wife.
