Fattburger

If you take Spyro Gyra and throw in a dash more of Joe Sample funkiness, you get Fattburger. This San Diego band has found success by grafting radio-ready rhythms with snappy (often intertwining) solos. While Fattburger's music is mostly about the groove, each member is a strong musician and every once in awhile they throw some Hard Bop sizzle into their Instrumental Pop. Rumors float around that they were originally named Obese Olive Loaf before deciding that it made them sound like a punk band from Cleveland.
