Fedde Le Grand made his name with "Hands Up for Detroit," but despite the throbbing, four-to-the-floor beats, there's not much Motor City in Output. With just enough grit in the rhythm to claim club credibility, the album puts funky house grooves in service of pop at its most populist. Taking cues from Daft Punk and Kelis, Le Grand dives into bright, garish hooks, Auto-Tuned choruses, and juicy, subwoofer-driven production that's as subtle as a foam party.
