Firewater started off as an exotic lounge-rock act, featuring heavies from Cop Shoot Cop, Foetus, the Jesus Lizard and others. In 2005, however, founder Tod A ditched his pals, kept the band name and wandered the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia with some clothes, a laptop and a microphone. Featuring a long list of itinerant folk musicians, The Golden Hour is the product of this sojourn. Basically, it sounds like Nick Cave-inspired gypsy rock with some truly awesome percussion.
