The band that recorded Last Train Home isn't the Foghat that bridged British blues and classic rock with a string of monster radio jams in the mid-1970s. Stalwart drummer Roger Earl is the only original member. Nevertheless, Last Train Home more or less sounds like vintage Foghat, maybe a bit more bluesy. That's fine. It would be kind of silly had the group released an album full of tracks that attempted to rock-out just like "Slow Ride." This lineup's only real weakness is Charlie Huhn's singing. He's serviceable, but ultimately he's no Dave Peverett (R.I.P.), Foghat's original howler.
