L.A. Is My Lady
Released: Jan 1984
Label: Frank Sinatra Enterprises
Sinatra's last true studio album, this 1984 reunion with Quincy Jones starts out with a disco attempt to copy the success of "New York, New York" before going off in a real jazz direction. Sinatra isn't in the best of voice, but he certainly couldn't reschedule the sessions with the amazing array of jazz greats who play here: Lionel Hampton, George Benson, Ray Brown, Buddy Collette, the Brecker Bros., Frank Foster and more. The best tunes include "After You've Gone" and "It's All Right With Me," though Sinatra hits some clams on "Stormy Weather." He unfortunately stopped recording after this.
