Sinatra Sings Great Songs From Great Britain (Bonus Tracks)

Sinatra Sings Great Songs From Great Britain by Frank Sinatra
Released: Nov 1962
Label: Frank Sinatra Enterprises
Once a rarity outside Britain, Frank Sinatra cut this ballad set with the fine string arranger Robert Farnon when he was performing in London on a 1962 world charity tour. The tour left his voice in tatters, but this is still a neglected gem. Top honors go to "You Go to My Head," the stoic wartime classic "We'll Meet Again" and, best of all, a pained slow-jazz style reading of "If I Had You" (on A Swingin' Affair! Sinatra does the song as if all of his dreams will come true; on this version he sounds as if he's listing the reasons why his life will never work out).
