Sings Cole Porter
Released: Jul 2003
This fine set collects 1940s studio versions and live radio broadcasts of Sinatra covering Cole Porter tunes. "Night and Day" was Sinatra's theme during this period, though as with many other readings here ("Just One of Those Things," "I Concentrate on You" and "I Get a Kick Out of You"), he would cut the definitive versions during the 1950s and '60s. It's hard to beat Sinatra's bluesy jazz reading of "Why Can't You Behave?" or match the high romance of "You Don't Remind Me," though he should've returned to "So in Love" later in life -- this brilliant number deserves a definitive Sinatra rendition.
