Biography
Laurent Garnier's labelmate and French House purist Frederic Galliano turns out creamy after-hours fare spiced with exotic flavors from jazz and ethnic music. Assuming the sensual moves performed by down-tempo countryman Kid Loco, Galliano's seductive Trip-Hop rhythms are swaddled in surrealist cinematic synths, fairy-dust melodies and vocals from a cooing harpy. Clean House grooves pair up odd samples from jazz and African music as patriotic vocals call out over fumbling piano riffs and floor-starting rhythms. Shining like the early morning sun on a whitewashed wall of a Moroccan palace, ethnic drums bombard flighty melodies and percussive sound effects. Carving out an intimate niche on the House and Trip-Hop scenes, Galliano renovates the French formula to draw a more culturally-diverse crowd with his coy cuts.
