You Could Be Born Again
Free Design
Released:
Jul 1968
Label:
Light In The Attic
While not as brilliant as Free Design's disarming debut, this is yet another winner that balances a fresh-faced innocent sound and beautiful singing with sonic weirdness and dark undercurrents. Leader Chris Dedrick scales back on his original numbers, concentrating on getting a rich tapestry of sound out of his family band and his recording studio. Highlights include the oddly unheralded Bacharach/David anti-war ballad "Windows of the World" and a jazzy/baroque Swingle Singers-style run-through of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby."
