Diamond In The Ruff (Explicit)
Freeway
Released:
Nov 2012
Label:
Switchblade Records
Diamond in the Ruff opens with "Right Back," a long-winded PSA on Freeway's former gig as a dope dealer ("I was out hurting my people, that was so stupid"), protests against a planned mosque near the World Trade Center site and anything else that comes to mind as Marsha Ambrosius sings the hook. It's a state-of-the-world ramble uncharacteristic of his rep as a full-throttled Philly rapper. He reprises his hammer-and-nails approach for the rest of the album, with "Ghetto Streets," "Numbers," "Jungle" and "Lil Mama" among its highlights.
