This is Rossdale's first solo effort since the dissolution of both of his former bands, the massively popular Bush and the less successful Institute. Wanderlust finds Rossdale collaborating with Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart, and, while the songs are decidedly more sedate than the sturm und drang of his Bush days, each resonates with the tortured yearning, soaring chorus and gruff vocals that put "Comedown" on the charts in 1995. Rossdale may not have sought out the limelight so much in the early '00s, but Wanderlust suggests he has not lost his muse.
