Gaye Adegbalola

On her debut album Bitter Sweet Blues, Adegbalola delivers lines like: "I've got big ovaries, baby / Big enough to speak my mind...I set my own rules / And I don't need balls to play." She's got an aggressive, in-your-face style of singing that's part humor and part soul, and she's backed by an excellent cast of Alligator Records house musicians. Before going solo, Adegbalola was a founding member of Saffire -- the Uppity Blues Women.
