Breakupdown
Ghislain Poirier
Released:
Nov 2005
Label:
Chocolate Industries
The most interesting aspects of Breakupdown come from south of the border: favela funk is given face time with Jamaican ragga. Though vocals are more prominent here than in prior Poirier releases, most are toaster style and employed as percussive counterpoints to the album's spare production. The Canadian's most accessible work yet.
