Biography

Girolamo Frescobaldi, thought to have been baptized in 1583, became one of the most important composers of keyboard music to bridge the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. An Italian, he long held the post of organist at St. Peter's in Rome, and he died there in the spring of 1643.
