To open their debut album, this Louisiana quintet boasts, "Yeah, we up, up, up in the clouds!" amid a polyrhythmic paradise that's as blindingly bright as the first rays of sunshine slicing through your eyeballs in the a.m. That undeniably fun and jubilant bounce never ceases throughout the rest of In Light. The band's quirky Afropop has hints of Vampire Weekend sans the Ivy League pomp, and their use of synths and samples suggests a flair for Animal Collective-like noodling. In the midst of it all, lone female Tiffany Lamson's silky-smooth coos give it all just a touch of sexiness.
