A self-titled eighth album may seem strange, but two decades and some serious scandals into her career, Gloria Trevi is reborn. Thankfully, her rebirth mostly entails an openness to experimentation (and collaboration: a Paulina Rubio cameo!) and an aversion to offstage drama. Her commitment to onstage drama remains very intact, whether she's sailing through sweeping, playful pop or trying a bit of banda. Also still firmly in place? That trademark growl. It falters slightly on the first half, but by leather-and-lace rocker "Fan," it's on. "Despierteme" shows off some of her career-best vocals.
