Although GCS weren't active between 1976 and '90, this 1996 live recording celebrates an outfit that's been playing earthy rural jams since the days of the Band and Duane-era Allmans. The Goose Is Loose shows just how well main man Ritchie Hart and company have aged. On "Talk About Goose Creek And Other Important Places," a hypnotic marriage of hillbilly grease and acid rock originally released in 1970, the band grooves harder than most alt-country brats.
