A high-profile endorsement by Prince hasn't exactly, um, hurt this Austin band, but there's a lot more to the group than their famous friends. Their horn-heavy attack recalls Ozomatli before they got hijacked by bad lyricists, as does their openhearted embrace of salsa, cumbia, Latin funk and jazz and...you name it. These guys have it, though Movimiento Popular only partly proves it: as with many great live bands, you need to see their instrumental fire in action. Still, this is a great introduction.
