Country and blues often commingle somewhere at the intersection of heartbreak and loneliness. Few artists bring the emptiness to bear as poignantly as Hank Williams. Low Down Blues does a great job of highlighting this side of the singer's work. Chart-toppers "Lovesick Blues," "Long Gone Lonesome Blues" and "Moanin' the Blues" exemplify the high yodeling wail that permeates many of Williams' lamentations; this wail is one reason Williams' music remains unparalleled. Other highlights include "My Bucket's Got a Hole In It," "Lonesome Whistle" and "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive."
