What Was Music? collects together the seminal Miami noise outfit's first album and seven-inches, released between 1992 and 1996. Husband and wife duo Ben Orcutt (guitar) and Adris Hoyos (drums, screaming), along with second guitarist Mark Feehan, splattered the most unbearably abrasive music ever made against the human wall of creativity. Screaming upon screaming, guitars seemingly played by chimpanzees and no-time dead snare thumps were planned, not improvised. For the uninitiated, "Untitled" is pretty good. So are "Untitled," "Untitled" and "Untitled."
