Frontman Jamey Jasta and company pay homage to their influences on this extensive covers album. With each member selecting specific tracks, For the Lions works as a collaborative playlist spanning the genres that gave rise to metalcore -- punk, hardcore, thrash, death metal, etc. -- all rendered with Hatebreed's signature ferocity. They take on Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front and Obituary among many others, but it's their venomous version of Madball's "Set It Off" and the crushing rendition of Slayer's "Ghosts of War" that are standouts.
