Biography

Despite their trendy moniker, the Hillbilly Voodoo Dolls are not a Swing Revival band. They play the same kind of rock 'n' roll that impressed Jerry Lee Lewis' cousin enough for her to get hitched to him. Their pseudo-Ragtime boogie-woogie is blessed with a piano player who bangs on an old saloon piece as if he were Nicky Hopkins on amphetamines. Meanwhile, the singer's soulful belting almost appears to channel old juke-joint ghosts of yore.
