Released:
Label: Mercury Records
The band that recorded Nobody's Daughter isn't really Hole; it's Courtney and some backing musicians. Nevertheless, they do a decent job approximating the vintage grunge sound of Live Through This. Not surprisingly, much of the album's success can be attributed to the volatile frontwoman. Just about every track here proves two things: (1) Courtney still can wail like a hellish banshee and (2) she still sees rock 'n' roll as a cathartic battleground, bloodied and soaked in tears.
