This criminally underrated soul vocalist recorded these sessions for Lloyd Price's Turntable Records after Tate's first album for Verve failed to sell. It's hard to resist Tate's falsetto when he really gets involved on the mostly uptempo soul numbers featured here. Co-produced by Johnny Nash -- which explains the brilliant rocksteady groove on "Hold Me Tight."
