During the 1970s, Creed Taylor had his stable of stars cut jazz versions of famous classical pieces. Flutist Hubert Laws, once a member of a symphony orchestra, cut this "all classical" LP after proving he could funkify the same type of material on his previous Afro Classic (1970). Uncompromising, this was one of CTI Records' biggest sellers.
